The Pastor's Job
I've been thinking about what the real job of a pastor should be. It seems like pastors are overly involved in the business and social aspects of the church. In some ways, many of them seem like leaders of a club. This is quite different from the early church model. In Acts chapter 6, the apostles appointed deacons to handle church business. As it states in Acts 6:4-"But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word." This is what the pastor's job is. They are to handle the spiritual life of the congregation. I think the church in this country would be different if ministers were more focused on the word of God and preaching the word of God in depth.
