Poem

 Gray Days

The overcast sky

spreads out

across the darkened world.

A cumbersome quilt

pressing against the sleeper.

Pervading shades of gray

mute even the splendor

of blazing maples

whose orange and red

cannot penetrate the gloom.

The foreboding sky

mingles with the  melancholy

of a depressed heart

lacking the light

that comes on a cloudless day.
